I've been talking a lot lately about finding beauty in the insignificant. Our world could definitely use some shaping up- like trash on the sides of roads and unsightly buildings. However, little corners of these so-called "ugly" places can surprise you if you look close enough. I've driven by these spots for years and have recently wondered how fun it would be to photograph them.
As ugly challenges are hitting the internet by storm, I wanted to do a bit of my own spin on it. This isn't quite as extreme as grocery stores and home improvement isles. These photos were taken in a suburb in Puyallup around a fairly busy road. The roses in a medical center parking lot, the California poppies under a housing development against a structural wall and in a lot next to a Walgreen's with the dump on the hill in the background.
Thank you to the beautiful Maddie for playing model for me! She clearly owned it and made these hidden gems come to life!
