I’m kicking off sharing photos of each of my Class of 2020 Britt Rep Team portraits with some gratitude! I’d love to try and keep this up monthly by sharing six bits that I’m grateful for that month. I’m going to leave the obvious things out, such as, my life, husband, house, etc. and get a little more specific. The more positivity we embrace, the more positive our lives will be and hope to spread that with others. I am a generally speaking “sunny” person in some ways, but also very exhausted by my sunniness. I’ve had people comment on my smile and to “keep smiling with that smile”… but I absolutely struggle to stay positive. I’d say more than most people. For years, I was definitely more of a realist, which we all know can really be negative. These past six months I’ve worked incredibly hard to shift my mindset and be positive. It’ll always have to remind myself to stay positive, but here’s a coffee cheers to believing in ourselves!
Rep Team 2020: Since we’re kicking this off with the face of one of my lovely reps, it only seems authentic to express my gratitude for such a wonderful group of young women in the Britt Rep Team this year! I’m so proud to have the opportunity to work with and grow alongside these amazing young women.
Audible: I love books and feeling like I can let my mind escape into other worlds and times. However, I go through seasons where I have a hard time concentrating on a physical book because my mind wanders back to all of the things I need to accomplish. I love that whether I’m driving or editing, I can play a book and get the same satisfaction of delving into a story, while still accomplishing tasks along the way. This is not sponsored in any way, I just love audio books!
Little Moon Essentials Clear Mind Aromatheraputic Spray: Speaking of wandering minds… I love this clear mind spray! When I’m having a hard time concentrating or finding inspiration, I spritz it in a rainbow motion over my head and savor it’s clarifying rosemary, grapefruit and eucalyptus scent. This is also not sponsored, but I love it so much, I had to list it as a favorite! Link to find it here.
Bird Song: With spring, and April blossoming, we’re back to consistently hearing the chirping of birds. In the winter, I forget how calming and uplifting their little songs can be. I find that when I hear them singing with the dawn or at dusk, it’s the perfect opportunity to breathe deep for a moment and close my eyes. To feel centered and at peace.
Greenery: What can I say?! I love some lush, Washington greenery! I am not someone that enjoys winter past Christmas. January through March are dark days for me. Once I see leaves unfurling and flowers pushing up from the frozen ground, I am SO happy to see the world teaming with life again! I’m a nature girl at heart.
Torrid: Moment of realness here- I have gained weight throughout the past few years and while I’ve struggled to keep it off, I’ve struggled even more to find clothes to fit my new body and make me feel good. After battling, or wanting to admit that I should look at Torrid (a store catering to plus size and curvy women), I finally took the leap. Not only have I found things that fit me without making me feel like a busted can of biscuits, I think they look SO CUTE. One thing I didn’t realize is that they had smaller clothes as well, and not exclusively 1x-3x or such. If you’ve been feeling similarly, I’d encourage you to do yourself a favor and look. I’m so grateful to have these options and to help me embrace my shape!
And now that I completely commandeered this blog post, let’s show off my first Class of 2020 Britt Team Rep, Emma representing Sumner High School! I had such a hard time selecting reps this year and had some amazing applications from Sumner High School. Emma’s application and straight away sweet nature struck me as a winner from the start and I’m so grateful she chose to work with me!
I savored my warm coffee before emerging from my cozy, heated car as we started our shoot in the chilly dawn, before the rising sun. Emma braved the dewy pre-spring morning in her adorable jumper, and was likely saved by her hand warmers. If you’re looking for a quiet and secluded location, make sure to ask about this one! It does have seasonal limitations and the water rises and falls depending on time of year, but it’s a gem. Emma brought along her sister, home from college for spring break, and her mom. I always love having moms and sisters on shoots to help catch little things like wardrobe malfunctions and, of course, to make all of the silly faces behind the camera. As the shoot went along, the sun warmed us and created a beautiful wintery glow! Make sure to scroll all the way down because you won’t want to miss Emma’s sunlit portraits!
